I wrote about our two year anniversary last week. Wednesday night we went out to dinner at a restaurant in Durham that we had never tried, but always wanted to. We had two years of this to celebrate:
When Corey suggested Piedmont, I was immediately on board. Like I said, we had always wanted to try it, but just hadn’t gotten there. Piedmont is downtown right by Durham Central park and the Durham Farmer’s Market.
We had one of the best dinners we’ve ever had in Durham. And that is saying something because Durham has some of the best food and we love so much of the food here!
We started off with drinks. Corey had something that I can’t remember, and I had this drink that was a mixture of melons, cucumber and Prosecco. I can’t remember exactly what was going on with it, but it was so summery, delicious and celebratory!
For our appetizer, we ordered the southern cheese plate
It came with three different kinds of cheeses, bread, crackers, rosemary spiced pecans and blueberry peach chutney. It was amazing. Two of the cheeses were creamy, and one was harder, like a cheddar. The crackers were homemade and really unique. And I’m pretty sure I gobbled up all the nuts by myself. They were so good!
And now to the saddest part of this post (for me, anyway). I forgot to take pictures of our entrees and desserts! I had risotto with asparagus and mushrooms that was wonderful. I was afraid it would be too heavy, but it ended up being just right. The perfect balance of creamy and fresh-tasting from the veggies. Corey had steak with sweet potato bacon hash. I had a bite of the steak, and it was honestly the best red meat I’ve ever tasted in my life. Ever. So incredible.
This is Corey telling me what to order for dessert. For me, blueberry cobbler and for him, sticky date cake. Then we split them. Both were really good, but I was partial to the cobbler. Again, so summery. You kind of can’t beat a dish with fresh blueberries during a week of 90-degree days.
We had so much fun celebrating our anniversary right here in Durham where we met and fell in love.
