This weekend was so rainy! In case you missed me posting the heck out of it, here was the gist of the forecast:
All rain, all day. It just wasn’t the best weekend for frolicking. You know, like you can normally do in NC in August.
In reality, it was a great weekend to get some things done that we needed to finish up for this week. We’re having someone paint downstairs living room, hallway, and upstairs hallway. One of the biggest things we needed to do was pick out a paint color. Right now in the downstairs we have a pumpkin orange color on two walls in the dining room and a slate blue in the kitchen.
From my sister’s shower 2 years ago Aaaaand just a random cluttered picture 🙂
When we moved in, every single wall in the entire house was a gold color. Which seemed nice since we were coming from an apartment with all stark white walls. But after about a year it became annoying. Just the gold everywhere. At this point, it makes me mad. If I have to look at the gold for another month, I just may vomit. Eventually, everything will be repainted and I’ll be a happy camper. For now, getting the downstairs and the hallways done will be huge.
So one of our big projects was picking out a neutral that coordinates with our existing colors. We went to Sherwin Williams and Lowes and pretty much pulled every single sample color that I thought could potentially work. Then we came back home and laid them all out.
Everything we got along with the orange and blue to begin narrowing it down. Oh, and we made lattes because it was below 75*, raining, and everything is more fun with coffee :).
Before we did this, I was almost certain we would go with a beige. It just seemed like it was the most likely color to tie everything together. However, the more we looked at our colors, the more we felt like gray was a better choice. Especially once we were in the room we’re having painted. The back of our house (where the living room is), tends to be kind of dark because it only gets morning sun. I think the light gray we chose is going to make the room feel brighter and more open.
Here’s the final choice!
I’m so excited to see how it looks. I’ll do the reveal next weekend along with the rearrangement of our living room!
As for our other rainy day activities, there was lots and lots of this
This dog just cannot get any more spoiled
Lunch at Only Burger–more on this in another post!
Some cleaning of the house and some laundry, and maybe even an afternoon nap :). All in all, it was a good rainy weekend. Stay tuned this week for updates on our house!
