Another Friday, More Favorites

Friday favorites again! I’ll share some things that I’ve been loving the last couple of weeks. I want to hear what you love right now too!

Fleece lined leggings
I got a pair when I was in Ohio with Laura. I love them. I throw these suckers on every night when I get home from work with a drape-y long-sleeved tee. They’re comfy, they’re warm. They are perfect. I plan to wear them alllll winter long. (As an update, I was looking around TJ Maxx today, and I think what I actually have are fleece lined tights. Which is fine with me, because I wasn’t planning on wearing them out of the house. But if you’re looking for them, I’m pretty sure they’re fleece lined tights.)

Plain lattes

This probably needs some sort of qualification. I don’t love everyone’s plain lattes. There are only a handful of places in Durham that make excellent (by my standards…which may or may not actually mean anything) ones. Guglhupf is by far my favorite. Any time I’m in the area, I have to get one of their lattes. Which, sadly is not all that often. Guglhupf also happens to be my favorite place for brunch. If you’re ever over in west Durham and need a coffee and good food, a Guglhupf latte along with pretty much anything on the menu is a killer option.

Should I have called this one Guglhupf?

Am I the only person that thinks boots are the most comfortable shoes on the planet? Hopefully not. Mine are two years old from Target. I’m starting to get afraid that the only shoes I’m going to wear all fall and winter are boots. Not only are they insanely comfortable, they are cute and I feel stylish when I wear them, and I’m not all that stylish, so it’s a major win. I do have an issue with booties, though. I just can’t figure out how to wear them! It looks weird to tuck my pants into them, but it also looks weird to cuff them above the top of the booty (I keep giggling when I type that word!). I am open to any and all suggestions here. I’m totally at a loss.

Sea Salt and Maple Popcorn Candle

I got this on sale at Bath and Body Works. I’ll tell you a secret: if you go right at the end of a season, you can get their big 3-wick candles for half price. I got this one for $11. It smells so delicious! I love having a candle burning in the house partly for the smell, and partly for the ambiance. This one totally hits the spot.

And last but not least….

Taylor Swift

I’ve had this album on repeat all.week. I’ve always liked Taylor, but I really really like this album. It is so catchy and a little bit ’80’s-sounding. Even Corey said, “yeah, it’s pretty good.” Which is his equivalent of an enthusiastic endorsement :).

That’s what I’ve been loving this week. My parents are in town this weekend, and I’m so excited to spend some time with them. We’ve already got our whole Saturday booked I think, and it should be a lot of fun!

Friday Favs

This Friday I wanted to share some things I’ve been loving lately.

This blog has been one of my very favorites to follow this fall. If you haven’t seen Fixer Upper on HGTV, it is a must watch. Chip and Joanna Gaines just seem like people you want to be best friends with. What I love most about their work is Joanna’s style that she brings to every project. No two houses are the same, and they have a very unique vintage-mixed-with-new design. Seriously, peruse her blog for a bit. She has beautiful pictures and great inspiration.

Apple crisp. I first made it this year on my trip to see Laura and I’ve made it two more times since then. To me, it is just the perfect fall dessert. And it always reminds me of my mom because it was the dessert she made for us every fall when we were growing up. I used a recipe from Mark Bitman’s How to Cook Everything here at home, but tonight as I was making it I remembered this recipe that I’ve made in the past, in the crock pot! How awesome is that?! It is so easy and so delicious!

Casabella Microfiber Filament Duster
This duster that I found at Target. Yes, I’m blogging about cleaning products. I know it’s silly, but I can dust my downstairs in 10 minutes flat! You know, like when someone’s coming over and you didn’t dust. Or clean at all. This can be done right before they walk in the door. Am I the only one that does this? It doesn’t get things nice and sparkling like dusting with furniture polish, but it eliminates dust for sure. And in between real dusting, I’m fine with that.

Painting my nails! I don’t know why this is exciting to me right now, but it is. I’m guessing the novelty will wear off in a hot minute, but for right now it’s fun :). Here’s the thing, though. I rarely, read: never ever, use a whole bottle of nail polish. I think I have three different colors at the moment and I’m hesitant to buy more because I’ll end up throwing most of it away. Also, nail polish tends to get kind of goopy and hard to use after awhile. Is there a way to keep that from happening? I’ve been looking at different sets of mini polishes, but can’t decide on just one. Here are the some that I like so far: here, here, and here. I need some good fall colors. Any other polishes that you love? Are minis the way to go if I don’t paint my nails very much?

Friday, Night. Lights. Love it. I may or may not be obsessed. I’m trying to get everyone I know to watch it. Mostly, I just need someone to talk to about it. Corey’s sick of me talking his ear off about a show he’s never seen. Ha! This show has totally fed into my recent love for all things Texas. It helps that the Cowboys are having an amazing season :).

Those are all my favorites this week. I’m in Cleveland this weekend spending time with my sister, and I just couldn’t be more excited!
