Azure Skirt

I have a confession to make: when I got my initial inventory, I was not really a fan of the LuLaRoe Azure. It just seemed like a skirt that you could get so many other places. Yeah, the fold-over waistband is really nice, but I’m pretty sure I had a skirt just like this from Target years ago, and I’ve seen sooo many of them at Old Navy.

So my plan? Sell them off and carry something more interesting in my shop, of course! 😉

But then I tried it on. Let me tell you, this skirt is way better than any of the other dime-a-dozen knee length skirts that are out there. The material is smooth and silky and falls juuuuuust right. The fold-over waistband lets you lengthen or shorten the skirt so it hits just at the right spot on the leg. AND it allows you to wear the skirt higher at true waist level or lower at the hips. And then the biggest reason this skirt has been a favorite for this summer–it is cool. The fabric is so nice and light and the skirt itself is airy and flowy. This summer was a scorcher and I reached for this skirt over and over again.

We took our kids out to the park this weekend and I threw on a yellow Classic Tee–knotted at the waist–with this blue Azure and (of course) my Ugandan beads which seem to go with anything and everything. The whole outfit was cool and comfortable, which is just what I needed in this NC heat. But I felt put together and cute at the same time!

Have you given Azure a try? What do you love most about it? If you’re interested in shopping LuLaRoe, join my shop here!

We’re Alive! And (Mostly) Making It!

Ok, I’ve neglected this spot for a really long time. I say that a lot, don’t I? But this time it was kind of an intentional break. I love having this blog so I can look back at certain times in our life as a family to remember what was going on and how it was all making me feel. But after we brought our girls home, I just really needed time and space to be really present and experience the changes without having to analyze things or organize my thoughts. And to be really honest, Uganda was hard. Like really really hard. And I needed some distance from it to be able to process things before I talked a lot about it.

BUT–we’re making it! Well, we’re mostly making it. Some days are better than others. Actually, we’ve had a lot more of the better days recently. There are still days where I have to just ask myself at the end of the day, “is everyone still alive?” and if the answer is yes, I’ll count it as a win. But every day I am just so so grateful to be where I am and living this life I’ve been called to.

So, some Hart family updates–

  • In July we went on vacation with my whole family. It was by far the most interesting vacation we’ve ever taken together. Full of critters, power outages, scorching temps, and no air conditioning. Oh yeah, and having the water shut off on us. Corey and I voted it our most Ugandan vacation–that wasn’t to Uganda. Weird for sure–but also quite memorable ;).

Baby Jesse is wondering if these cousins know what they’re doing ;).

Jesse and girls

I cannot get enough of this picture. So cute, all of them.

I’m as obsessed with baby Jesse as the girls are. He is so sweet and squishy!

  • Over the summer we also decided to home school the girls. I am so excited about this decision, but over the last week I’ve started to get really nervous! I think it will be amazing though, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity.

(Ok, I’m not gonna lie. This was taken during the most grueling game of Memory ever. Bonnie and I just about lost our minds. Hoping home schooling goes better than this. I mean, it has to, right??)

  • In August, we took our first just-girls roadtrip to PA to visit my family. It was so much fun–the girls had a blast and came back to Durham totally.exhausted. I’m really looking forward to doing this every summer.

JandJ

I love how much she loves him. Are you noticing a theme here? I think this was the summer of baby Jesse!

delgrosso

We went to Delgrosso water park while we were in PA. The girls had such a blast! We can’t wait to do it again.

  • One of the biggest things for me this summer is that I onboarded and started selling LuLaRoe clothing! It has been challenging and time consuming, but so much fun and I’m really excited to see where this is going to go.

That’s all for now. I’m so glad to be back here writing. I’ll share more with you as I’m able. Thank you for keeping up with us and our adventures!

The Birthday Girl

We had our first kiddo birthday in our house this week and I wanted to share some pictures and memories from the day. Mostly so I don’t forget this moment in time. It was such a special day. I am just so grateful for my little family and that God has given me the opportunity to be mommy to these girls.

Before this week Teddy and JJ didn’t really understand what birthdays were and why they were so special. It made all of this so much more fun. Corey and I stayed up (really) late and decorated the downstairs and wrapped presents the night before the big. When we went up to bed I told Corey I was so excited I felt like a little kid the night before Christmas. I honestly didn’t know if I’d be able to sleep! We had such a blast thinking of things to do to really knock Teddy’s socks off and it worked. She was so surprised by when she came downstairs the next morning.

Opening her presents at the breakfast table. Pure excitement there :). She was so sweet, asking if the second and third presents were for JJ after she opened the first. They both call birthdays “happy birthdays,” so she kept asking “this for my happy birth-a-day??” I think she was in disbelief for awhile.

Later in the evening with her party dress on. We had a meal of spaghetti and chicken (so basically chicken parm ;):)..) at her request.

birthday3

These little friends. I’m not sure any of them sit still long enough to get a good picture of all three. They’re going to grow up like siblings, and I love it! (Also, can we pause for a moment and notice the beautiful table Corey MADE for our family?!?! This was our inaugural meal on it. It is SO beautiful, I can’t stop staring at it!!)

birthday

Waiting for her cake and candles. I love the Hello Kitty phase, it kind of makes me want to freeze time because I know in the next couple years she’ll outgrow the fascination and it’s just so cute right now!!

birthdaycandles

She tried to blow out her candles mid “Happy Brithday,” and I was trying to stop her. My face is totally cracking me up ;).

Blowing our her first birthday candles on her first ever birthday cake. Love.

Kisses from mommy.
